Did you know...

that the BSC library has some really great study spaces?

Private study rooms:
The following rooms are located on the ground floor of the library and may be reserved for up to a four-hour period. Room availability may be checked here. Reservations can be made by clicking here, calling 205-226-4740, or emailing Eric Kennedy or Ginny Boehme. These rooms are kept locked but are available for use during non-reserved hours. Keys may be checked out at the circulation desk:
  • Seminar A (Austen)
  • Seminar B (Bach)
  • Seminar E (Einstein)
  • Seminar F (Fellini)
  • Seminar G (Garcia Marquez)
  • The Heflin Room
The following rooms are not available for reservation and do not require a key:
  • Seminar C (Curie)
  • Seminar D (Douglass)
Private study carrels:
Individual study carrels are also available on the ground floor and may be used if unreserved and unoccupied.  

Study bar:
Just need an outlet and a comfy swivel chair? The study bar is located on the main floor!

Don't forget:
The library has tables, sofas, and public computers on every floor, as well as open study carrels on the top floor!

While you are enjoying the Homecoming/Family/Alumni Weekend festivities be sure to stop by the Library and pick up a few items from our annual Library Booksale!

There are hundreds of items including old BSC yearbooks, foreign language materials, classic literature, fiction, plays, religion, psychology, history, cooking, etc.
                     
We are also selling records (LPs) -- both classical and popular.

The prices are right, too! 

Note:  Payment by cash or check only.

$1 (hardbacks)
$1 for two paperbacks
Media:
CDs $1 each
Videos $1 each
LPs $.50 each or 3 for $1

BSC Library's October Database Trials

The BSC Library has several database trials available this month, including:

  • Acland Anatomy (anatomical videos)
  • The Atlanta Constitution, fulltext from 1868-1984 (from Proquest Historical Newspapers)
  • Oxford Islamic Studies Online (scholarly works on the history and culture of Islam)
  • Pronunciator (a language learning tool)
  • Proquest History Vault (NAACP and the Black Freedom Struggle fulltext documents)
  • PsycBOOKS and PsycTESTS (from the American Psychological Association)
  • SAGE Business Researcher and Business Stats
  • SAGE Online videos (in counseling, education, and media, communication & cultural studies)
  • Total Materia (a database of materials and material properties)
To access any of these databases, visit the Library's Database Trials page (under the Research Tools Tab).  If you are off campus, you must log in using your BSC email username and password.   The Library welcomes your feedback on these trials; drop us a line at libref @ bsc.edu!

Fall break is here! If you're planning on visiting the library, please make a note of our shortened hours.

Wednesday, Oct. 7: 8am-10pm
Thursday, Oct. 8: 8am-10pm
Friday, Oct. 9: 8am-5pm
Saturday, Oct. 10: CLOSED
Sunday, Oct. 11: 2pm-1am (resume normal hours)
