A Friendly Reminder
Students, mark your calendars! All books that have been requested through Interlibrary Loan will be due back by Friday, December 5! The library will not fill any more ILL book requests between then and January 5th, so make sure you plan ahead! (ILL article requests will still be filled.)
If you have any questions about Interlibrary Loan, feel free to contact the ILL department (226-4748)!

New color copier in the library!
Printing has changed (again) in the Library, but this time we think it will be a great change for everyone! The old laser printers have all gone away and have been replaced by three copier/printers instead, one on each floor:
LIBCOLOR -- on the main floor, by the reference offices (don't worry, it prints in black & white, too!);
LIBDOWN -- on the ground floor, just outside the ARC Lab; and
LIBTOP -- on the top floor, by the main staircase.
You can print to any of the three copier/printers from any computer in the building, but each computer will print by default to the copier/printer on the same floor (main floor computers default to main floor copier, etc.). Wireless printing will continue to be available, so if you're comfortably settled at a table on the top floor, you can grab your printouts without having to walk downstairs.
Color printing is now more convenient than before, with greater access and larger print sizes available. You may now print in color from any computer in the building. Just (1) choose LIBCOLOR as the printer, (2) open the printer properties, and (3) change the color mode from black & white to color, then (4) collect your pages at the main floor copier. Note that steps 2 & 3 may vary slightly from one program to another. You can also print in color via wireless printing.
We hope you'll find the new system faster and more convenient, and as always, don't hesitate to ask our staff and student assistants if you need help!

Digging In
Mid-Terms are over and
already the student energy is up in the Library. Now is the time to make sure
that your grades will be what you want them to be.
One proven method of
improving your GPA is to take advantage of such support services as tutoring. The Academic Resource
Center provides peer-supported assistance through the Writing Center and the
Math Lab. The ARC also provides drop-in and individualized tutoring in biology,
accounting, psychology, and other subjects.
Find out more about these
and other tutoring opportunities from the ARC webpage. Contact Stacey Thornberry
at arc@bsc.edu or 226-4750 with any questions.

Check out the library's database trials!
October is Database Trial month! Heavily sponsored through the Network of Alabama Academic Libraries (NAAL), the trials offer free access to new and emerging databases, or sometimes older databases, to which we don't currently subscribe (you may find some good full-text articles that we'd usually have to get through Interlibrary Loan!). Most trials run through the end of the month, so be sure to check them out while you're doing your research!
