Library Databases: Remote Access Temporarily Not Available, Connection Still Available from Wired Campus Computers

Due to a hardware failure, several systems are currently unavailable at BSC. This includes the EZProxy system, which allows access to library databases from off-campus and wireless connections.

However, you can still access the databases from a wired computer on campus. To access the databases from a computer on the BSC campus, click on the database name, go to the box in your browser that displays the webpage address (or URL), and remove this initial part of the URL:

Then press enter or the "go to" arrow. You should connect to the database. If you have questions, please contact a librarian at 205-226-4766.
As reported by the IT department, the other systems affected include:
  • TheSIS (registration for students)
  • All math software (Matlab, Maple, Minitab)
  • SPSS
  • All printing via print servers - some printing may work if not going through a print server
  • Pcounter system (for student printing)
  • Copiers

IT is hopeful that access to these systems will be restored by tomorrow, April 12. Thank you for your patience as they work to resolve this problem.
