In honor of Black History Month, Dr. Angela Lewis, Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, is scheduled to speak at BSC's Norton Theater this February 20th, at 4 p.m. Dr. Lewis, who teaches courses on American politics and the politics of race, plans to present on the work covered in her most recent book, Conservatism in the Black Community: To the Right and Misunderstood, published by Routledge in 2013. Her work mainly observes the influence that contemporary Black Conservatism has on black political behavior in the United States. Additionally, Dr. Lewis not only teaches courses at UAB but also actively participates in student organizations on UAB's campus and serves as a political analyst for a few radio stations centered in Birmingham.
