Come see the BSC Theatre's resurrection of 'Jesus Christ Superstar' -- the much-adored, one-of-a-kind rock musical that has captured the attention of audiences across the globe since 1971.This musical, which earned five Tony Award nominations in 1972 and
another Tony Award nomination for "Best Revival of a Musical" in 2000, details the last week of Jesus' life in a post-apocalyptic future torn by military and religious polarization. Jesus offers this broken world a path toward redemption not rooted in restrictive law or violence.
To coincide with the production, Professor of Theatre Michael Flowers will present a Provost's Forum entitled "I Don't Know How to Love Him: Jesus and Judas Have a Go in the Musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar.'" This event is free and open to the public, and will be held on Tuesday, April 8, in the College Theatre/Mainstage during Common Hour (11am), with Rev. Jack Hinnen, college chaplain, and Dr. Amy Cottrill, BSC associate professor of religion, participating in the discussion. The cast will also be performing selected scenes from the musical.
As an added bonus, both of these events will count as EEIS credits!
